Great Food, Great Vacation!

One of the most important things about vacations . . . . GREAT FOOD.

At Small Hope Bay Lodge, our all inclusive menu is always fresh, always homemade. We use local produce and locally caught fish. We bring a wide variety of cuisine for all tastes and have plenty of options, so everyone can enjoy delicious food!

Here are some of the reasons our guests can get enough of our tasty meals:

Our Breakfast Rocks!
We offer a great continental breakfast - Bagels and breads, with cream cheese and other spreads; fresh fruit; 5 fruit juices; 4 types of cereal and milk; yogurt; coffee and tea. And we offer a great hot breakfast to order too - eggs any style; omelets; french toast; pancakes; bacon; ham; sausage; and a different Bahamian style breakfast each morning which can be corned beef and grits, or chicken souse, or steamed conch and grits, etc.

Lunches are Awesome! Our lunches are almost all
served on our ocean-side dining patio. They include all kids of sandwich fixings - various types of bread, several cold cut meats, cheeses, lettuce, tomato, and onions; three different types of salad - a garden salad, a caesar salad, and a salad of the day which is always fresh and tasty; and a hot entrees and sides which change daily and can include pulled pork sandwiches, turkey pot pie, Bahamian pork and dumpling stew, chicken wings, and many more. And lunch wouldn't be complete without dessert! At least three different types of dessert, fresh out of the oven, like pies, cookies, cakes, parfaits, and many, many more!

Cocktail Hour is Amazing! At an all inclusive resort, cocktail hour can last all day if you want. But starting at 6 pm we start bringing out appetizers. We offer chips (pita or corn) and various dips like salsa, hummus, guacamole, or spinach dip. We have a fresh vegetable platter with all kinds of beautiful and colorful veggies and cheeses. And then (drumroll) . . . our mouth-watering conch fritters. Careful, they are addictive!

Dinner is Spectacular! Typically served on our seaside patio, our talented kitchen
staff offer an ever-changing menu with the freshest ingredients. Every night there are options for soup, three types of salads, a vegetable dish, a starch, a meat, and a seafood option. Menus can include things like bacon-wrapped shrimp, grilled mahi mahi, jerk ribs, cracked conch, grilled lobster, grilled steak, steamed broccoli, roasted peppers, orzo pasta salad, garlic roasted potatoes, eggplant Parmesan, roasted vegetable soup, cream of mushroom soup, or on those special nights . . . roasted suckling pig! And don't forget the desserts again! More sweets like key lime pie, bread pudding, creme brulee,  pineapple upside down cake, cheesecakes, or a Bahamian favorite guava duff

A Small Hope Reunion

Together Again!
A Small Hope reunion was held this summer on the shores of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
John Rice and Kay Baldwin have been coming to Small Hope Bay Lodge for many years now. John an avid bonefisherman and Kay a serious diver found themselves quite at home here on the bay. Over the years they have introduced us to many others; fishermen, divers, enthusiastic relaxers and the group has grown to the size it is now. This year everyone met in Michigan for a little reunion before they meet up again at Small Hope Bay for the holidays.
Small Hope Bay Lodge is home away from home for this ever growing group and everyone has a fantastic time when they’re on the bay. Whether they are goofing off underwater, casting a fly out on the flats, enjoying an afternoon nap in the hammock on the dock or just chatting over conch fritters it is always great fun!
And speaking of fun…everyone at Small Hope is very excited for the return of Margarita John and his famous Margarita Parties!  Better be sure to get your order in fast before they are all gone. Christmas and New Years are sure to be a blast with this group making yet another return visit.

Looking forward to December.....

Henri and Florence visit Small Hope Bay

Recently we were lucky enough to have a  visit from French couple Henri and Florence, they stayed with us for a week and enjoyed some diving and some relaxation time, here are a few words they had to say......

(Florence diver master Moose and Henri)

Would that be what paradise looks like?
We just spent one of the most unforgettable weeks of our life’s....... and it breaks our hearts that we have to leave now.
Small Hope is one of those places where you know you can find peace. The beauty of the nature is absolutely overwhelming. We are completely fulfilled with the marine life, diving with gracious eagle rays, majesties sharks and uncountable other magical species.
The corals are so healthy and rich that you feel like you are evolving through beauty itself.
The cocooning in the lodge is all the more pleasant as is the staff who are kind and attentive.
We just wish the time could stop now.......
If this is not realizable, then be sure we’ll be back, still reaching a little more peace of our own
Henri and Florence

We were also lucky enough to have there few words translated for us so here is the French version as well

Dinning at Small Hope Bay Lodge

Small Hope Bay Lodge dinning experience is something not to be missed. The evenings start at cocktail hour around the bar for chat about the day and what the plan is for the next day, then the conch fritters arrive.
The evening meal is announces by the chef of the night and the meals are a collective mix of cuisine's  done with a Bahamian flare.

Dinner is usually served at 7pm, as dinner is help yourself style there is no rush to eat, it is all at your own pace and we try to dine alfresco when we can so you can enjoy the
beautiful Bahamian sunset as you eat.

Rob, Jake, Meg and Marshall

“We returned to Small Hope Bay for a second time, two summers after discovering this wonderful dive resort in the Bahamas and our second trip was as wonderful as our first! The staff, the food, the other guests, the dives, the scenery were all still simply amazing and all four of us had a terrific week together! This year we had two years of diving under our belts (had just started to dive two years ago) and the dives were even better than before (to include our sighting of a 10 foot hammerhead swimming up over the wall our second morning!) Thanks for a terrific week…..we will certainly be back!!!”

Life as a Conch at SHBL

Fifteen years ago we had our first Conch Fritter at Small Hope, and since then we have not been able to find a conch fritter as good as they are here. It was one of the first things to look forward to once we arrived! - Pat & Patty

Get em’ while they’re hot! Small Hope’s conch fritters are one of a kind. Every cocktail hour a platter of them is devoured along with our special conch sauce and spicy conch sauce. Follow this link to see the delicious treats being enjoyed by guests!
The conch fritters are made fresh daily, first the conch is fished from Small Hope’s personal conch farm located off the dock. The conch is added as the key ingredient to our secret recipe. The mixture is then fried and served!
Come and experience them for yourself!! Pin It Now!
