Weddings Galore!

We've had three beautiful weddings in the last month! I can't think of a more beautiful location for a destination wedding - white sandy beach, the bluest turquoise waters, and sparkling Bahamas sunshine!

Bev and Rudy's Seaside Wedding......

On Tuesday 22 March 2011, Bev and Rudy got married!!!

It was a quiet afternoon wedding. The sun was shining, the wedding arch was decorated,  there was a light sea breeze, the day was perfect!!
Revered Hamilton was on hand for the ceremony and his words of wisdom. The vows were said, the marriage certificates were sign, it was then time to enjoy the afternoon sun on the outside patio with music and the first dance as man and wife.
A big congratulations to Bev and Rudy on their special day and thanks for sharing with Small Hope staff and guest!!!!

Vicki & Gregg get married.............

o          Small Hope's first wedding of the year was a quiet, intimate occasion. It was a simple ceremony on the beach with Reverend Hamilton. Below are a few words from Vicki and Gregg......

J  Jeffery Birch. MR. Oscar Munroe, Mel, Antonio, Dennis, Randy, Almondo, Ulysses, Aidan Joe and all the special people we met during our stay that weren't listed here. Thanks so much to all of you. When we left Small Hope bay it was like leaving a friend behind. We appreciated all the things you did for us to help us relax and enjoy the most special time of our lives. The triple Pineapple rum punch also helped enormously. We love Small Hope Bay!

A poem about Small Hope

A lovely poem written by Stewart and Gram about there stay here at Small Hope............

Small Hope Bay Lodge

Small Hope Bay a little bit of heaven
Complementary bar open 24\7
Quite an idea, give Jeff credit,
If he doesn't have it, he'll go and get it.
A cottage for two
These are neat and we didn't have to turn on the heat.
Here's to the staff,
They are a treasure
They are good at their jobs
Giving people pleasure.
Scott is the chef
His passion is food
If he makes it, it's sure to be good
There is Johnny the Cabbie
At 70 he still likes to drive
He tells about the Queens visit,
The 15th of October 1985
To Small Hope Bay its $20 for two
Four for $28.
Get in! Get in! We don't have to wait
With a mystery writer here,
And a heart doctor there
Question...Does the grooms dad
Color his hair?
With fishing, snorkeling and shopping too,
Why go back to our everyday zoo
Everything is great even the weather
We wish the newly weds
A long and happy life together
We will remember long after we are gone,
Thanks for everything Leah & Jon!!!
They put meaning in the words,
"Lets just do it!"
Love and best wishes,
Gram and Stewart

Beach Wedding @ Small Hope

The wonderful couple Gary and Liz came to Small Hope to get married!  They were after a quite, intimate, and romantic setting, and Small Hope had all that and more.  The flower arch was built, the bouquets were made, and the outside bar was ready for the celebration.  Once the lovely bride and groom were ready, it was wedding time!!

The day was perfect; with the waves lapping at their ankles, Gary and Liz were united in holy matrimony. We're glad they enjoyed their tropical island wedding in the relaxing environment that is Small Hope!!!

Juggling Love

We've always known that we have multi-talented guests at Small Hope Bay Lodge but even Jeff was surprised at the talent exhibited by honeymooners, Jason and Laura. The newlyweds kept the other guests constantly entertained with their bubbly personalities but really kicked it up a notch first with light up juggling balls and then with a really HOT fire show!

Here is the video of the juggling, with Divemaster Loren getting in on the action:

And then the bonfire on the beach that turned into a fire show and lessons for Divemaster Dennis.

Thanks to Jason and Laura for the fabulous spontaneous entertainment -- just another example of why the Small Hope way of life rocks! Pin It Now!

SHBL - a perfect place for honeymoons and anniversaries

Wayne and Sheila first visited SHBL 31 years ago on their honeymoon, and returned to the Small Hope family to enjoy a week of snorkeling, diving, hammocking and going on a tour of the many eco trails we offer where they could enjoy bird-watching the many rare species that are native to our island.
Wayne and Sheila also met up with Kevin and Rachel who were newlyweds here on their honeymoon. Kevin and Rachel learned to dive here together while doing our discovery scuba course and enjoyed days snorkeling around Goat Cay Island. Click here to hear about honeymooning at SHBL from the two couples.

“Small Hope – Large Hearts – Deep Dives – Renewed Energy. We first came to Small Hope 31 years ago on the second half of our honeymoon. We wanted the nightlife and excitement of Nassau and then wanted to dive and ‘unwind’ in a small resort away from the lights. We’ve been back to Small Hope several times since then and haven’t returned to Nassau, no desire to go back. Every time we return to Andros we ask about our first dive master, Abe, our hostess, Danby and...“the family”. Small Hope Bay Lodge is all about “the family”, because we became apart of the family, and that’s the way Dick Birch planned it. Diving is the central theme, as it should be, but people are the focus. Our desire to dive, hike, bike, kayak, explore, relax and share experiences with other guests always leaves us with something to do ‘the next time’, and there will always be a next time. Families always plan reunions.” - Wayne and Sheila Pin It Now!
